About Me

Professional Qualifications
I am a very well qualified Counsellor, Psychotherapist and Supervisor, having continued my studies to the highest, advanced academic level, completing my Professional Doctorate in Counselling & Psychotherapy at the University of Brighton in 2017.

My qualifications are as follows:

(2010) Master’s Degree in Counselling & Psychotherapy

Experience
I have a developed a wide breadth of experience over the last 20 years, working within the profession and having been employed with a number of charitable counselling organisations, local government and an Employee Assistance Programme. I now work full time in private practice with my own caseload, and have set up and manage The West Street Counselling Centre, a professional, purposely designed Group Practice which provides facilities for a large team of colleagues.

Theoretical Framework
I am an Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist which means I work broadly from a relationship perspective, drawing upon all the major counselling and psychotherapy theoretical frameworks adapting my approach, to meet the needs of each individual client. I am an experienced EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing) therapist and offer EMDR to clients who have experienced trauma, including abuse, neglect, bullying or one off traumatic events and are struggling with anxiety, low confidence, or Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Professional Membership
My Professional Body is the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP) with whom I hold Registered Senior Accredited Counsellor and Psychotherapist membership and an obligation to work within the their code of practice known as The Ethical Framework. I am also a member of Hampshire Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (HACP) and EMDR Association UK.

Continued Professional Development
I regularly undertake further learning including workshops, conferences and seminars, with a view to maintaining continued professional development. I keep up to date with the latest research and incorporate this into my work.

Clinical Supervision
Having undertaken training with Cascade, I hold a diploma in group and individual supervision and offer clinical supervision to counsellors and psychotherapists. My approach is Integrative, providing a creative, safe environment for personal and professional reflection. Clinical supervision can be arranged to meet the needs of the individual or group.
